Summary of Civilization: Maya Civilization, an ancient Native American culture that represented one of the most advanced civilizations in the western hemisphere before the arrival of Europeans.The Maya civilization was one of the greatest in the history of the world and the reason for its collapse is still a big mystery. The ancient Maya occupied a vast geographic area in Central and South America from around 2000 BC until 1500 AD. The Mayan culture extended to parts of what is now Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador, and most of Guatemala and Belize. During the Classical Period which lasted from the third to the ninth century, Maya civilization built awe-inspiring temples, pyramids and cities and formed a complex social and political order. Many of the remnants in Tikal reveal the culture of this ancient civilization. The Mayan culture excelled in many different fields, and testaments of their achievements are found throughout the area.

lived by The Guif Of Mexico were the Xicalango,Jaina,Oxkintok.
Climate: The climate of the Maya civilzation is. They had a big drought which means they had no water or rainfall for years. Because it was so hot and humid and all the rivers by their homes dryed up.The ground wasn't moist and it was very hard for them to plant plants and grow crops, it was also hard to have cattle or animals that ate grass because the ground was so dry they barely had any grass at all.
Art and Architecture: The maya gave there art for gifts. They also gave there art to the non liveing. There art was there lagweg and comunucation.They gave art to the people they sacrificest. They decerated the tooms with art and picturs. Culture (Religion, Customs, Food, ect.) Their present culture is vibrant and thriving, best shown by the many traditionally dressed woman and children seen along the streets in the entire country. Weaving is one of the outstanding Maya craft, an ancient art that has survived uninterrupted for centuries and is now becoming famous all over the world. The Maya also make baskets, pottery and wood carved of animals, saints and brightly-painted toys and chests. Chichicastenango hosts the traditional handicrafts market every Thursday and Sunday and a more typical Mayan market can be experienced every Saturday in Solola on the way to Lake Atitlan.

The Maya had huge pyramids some of them up to 200 feet high! Today there are ruins of observitories,palaces,plazas, baths,reservoirs,and artificial lakes.
They had their own mathematics and written language.So they were really far ahead of the other tribes like the Olmec,Aztec and Inca. Speaking of being ahead the Mayan people made rubber! The mayan civilization lived from 250b.c. to about 900a.c. The Mayan people spoke a mix of north American and Mesoamerican.(spanish). The Mayan Calendar was very accurate for an ancient civilization. The Maya could predict when the sun would set, what time of day it was, and even when there would be an eclipse. They ended up being only 4 days off our time now. They even predicted the world would end in 2012 sometime in December. The Mayans could, using their calendar predict when the days would be shortest, longest and so on. They could also use this calendar to know when eclipses and such had happened hundreds of years ago.
